Last on, first off
Put your jewellery on after perfume, hairspray, sunscreen and moisturiser, and take it off before anything else at the end of the night. Almost all plating damage comes from chemicals, not from wear.
Keep it dry
Do not swim, shower or wash dishes in plated pieces. If it does get wet, dry it immediately with a soft cloth — trapped moisture is what dulls the finish.
Store it in the pouch
The velvet pouch that came with your order is not just packaging. Storing pieces separately stops them rubbing against each other, which is the second biggest cause of plating loss.
Lay necklaces flat rather than hanging them by the pendant.
Cleaning
Wipe with a dry, soft cloth after each wear. Never use jewellery dip, toothpaste or an ultrasonic cleaner on plated pieces — they strip the seal.
Oxidised silver is meant to darken over time. Do not polish it back; the depth is the point.
Pearls and stones
Fresh-water and shell pearls are soft. Keep them away from acids and abrasives, and re-shape a pearl cluster gently with your fingers rather than pulling on the thread.
